Roller Course Outline

This training program is designed for both novice and experienced operators who may be expected to operate a roller while performing their daily duties in the working environment.
Learners who achieve this course objectives will, upon completion, be able to demonstrate knowledge of the functions of a roller, plan for work activities and prepare the work area, start and shut down the roller and operate and transport the roller to and from the work site.

Module 4: Roller Main Components
  • Explain what the main components of a roller are

  • Identify where the main components are on the roller

  • Explain when these components are serviceable or not


Module 5: Machine Checks
  • Explain the importance of walk-around inspections

  • Discuss the different checks to be done on a roller

  • Conduct the different checks on the roller


Module 6: Operating Procedures
  • Apply the safety aspects related to operating the roller

  • Explain the operating principles and techniques of the roller

  • Explain the vibration and compacting techniques of the roller

  • Shut down and park the roller correctly
