It also makes good business sense that employees who are expected to supervise overhead crane operators and related activities should know what the correct operating methods and procedures are so that they are competent to identify good, bad, safe or unsafe operating practices during the course of their supervision day / shift.

Module 1: Introduction to Cranes

  • Explain the employee’s responsibilities


Module 3: Personal Protective Equipment
  • Identify what personal protective equipment is

  • Explain why an employee should wear PPE

  • Exhibit knowledge of how to care for certain PPE

  • Identify the main components found on overhead cranes

  • Explain the purpose of certain relevant components

  • Exhibit knowledge of any safety aspects that need to be considered relating to the components

  • Identify any maintenance requirements for certain components

  • Exhibit knowledge of how typical crane operating controls function


Module 4: Overhead Crane Checks
